Zaragoza, Spain is a city in the province of Aragon that began being populated around the 7th century a.d. There are remains that proves that Zaragoza was populated during the Bronze Ages. This city was founded in the year 24 a.d., by the Romans and was called Caesaraugusta in honor of Cesar Augusto. From then on many episodes in history have occured in this historical, cultural and beautiful city. The city of Zaragoza in the province of Aragaon, Spain was born under the Roman Empire and grew little by little. During the first centuries it slowly began it´s development process of the roman legions who were later displaced to other areas of the Iberian Penninsula.
After 2 centuries of decadence, the III and IV of our era, the visigoths arrived for a short time until the muslims came to the city and babtised it as Saragusta and made it an independent kingdom. This arab occupation period lasted until the XII century. They were times of reconquering, precisely of Alfonso I the Batallador who reconquered plaza in the year 1120 converting the city into the capital of Aragon, and a city in which the king and queen of the Aragon made it one of the most important.
The city began to develop in centuries after the fact under the Aragon Kingdom and had 2 episodes that are carved in stone like the year 1808 when the Napoleonic invasion of Zaragoza occured that caused a big depression due to the destruction and exodus of the population that resided there.
Years later the city began to slowly develop once again until today. |
