Zaragoza is a city that has numerous monuments like the Cathedral or Basilica of Our lady of Pilar, the most important temple you will find in this capital city of Aragon in northern Spain. The Pilar Cathedral in Zaragoza, Spain is a barroque temple, and is the biggest in all of Spain with similar characteristics. In it´s interior you´ll find frescos from the famous artist Goya and a chapel from the 18th century.
Other important monuments in Zaragoza is the Cathedral of Salvador that mixes diverse styles of Romantic Barroque without forgetting other styles like Mudejar and Gothic. It´s roman origins may be the cause, although the muslims built over this building before the Christians did. It is considered World Heritage declared so by the UNESCO.
Last but not least the Aljaferia Palace is a work of art that dates back to the 11th century and was built by the arabs.
In Zaragoza you can visit many monuments without forgetting to visit the historic center of the city with it´s roman areas, barroque, modernist and Renaissance.
Zaragoza itself is a monumental city and you will surely enjoy your stay in the lively and fun city! |
